At SHAKESPEARE’S BIRTHPLACE groups will find costumed guides telling tales of Shakespeare’s family and his early life. The sixteenth century half-timbered cottage where Shakespeare was born in 1564 is conveniently situated in the middle of the town. Nearby is HALLS CROFT where Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna lived when she married Dr. John Hall. Further out of town is ANNE HATHAWAY’S cottage where Shakespeare’s future wife lived. This property is particularly interesting as it contains some of the original furniture from 500 years ago.
